📌 MEET THE BOARD MEMBER MONDAY 📌
Today we’re excited to introduce our Granite City CEO Board Chair, Jon Roderick!

Jon is a Granite City native, third-generation restaurant owner, and professional chef whose family has been serving the Granite City community since 1945.

Jon’s career in the service industry started early. By around age 10, he was already helping his dad with catering, later learning to fry chicken, bus tables, and work his way through the kitchen. In 1987, Jon stepped away from the family business to begin a professional culinary apprenticeship under ACF-certified chef and Golden Toques member Ollie Sommer.

He returned to the family business in 1997 and eventually took over in 2017. In 2024, Jon shifted the direction of his business to focus more heavily on catering.

But Jon’s passion goes far beyond food — he has a heart for investing in young people. ❤️

Growing up, Jon played hockey and later spent 10 years coaching hockey. After COVID, missing that interaction with kids inspired him to begin hosting cooking classes for “tweens” at his restaurant.

Since then, he has taught dozens of young people everything from food sanitation and safety and proper knife skills to creating bacon panko mac & cheese, hand-rolled spring rolls, egg rolls, and more.

When he isn’t working, serving the community, or mentoring young people, Jon enjoys playing guitar, listening to music, and relaxing on the back porch with his dogs. 🎸🐾

Jon’s commitment to teaching, mentoring, entrepreneurship, and our Granite City community makes him a wonderful leader for the Granite City CEO Board.
