✨ MEET THE BOARD MEMBER MONDAY ✨

This week, we’re excited to introduce Joel Rahn, Granite City CEO Board Member and owner of Meme’s Cafe right here in Granite City! ☕️

🏡 Joel’s Connection to Granite City
Joel says he married into Granite City! His wife grew up here, and over the years, this community has become home for both his family and his business.

💡 Why He Serves on the CEO Board
For Joel, it’s all about the power of mentorship.

“When I was in high school, I would have given anything for an opportunity like CEO — real business owners opening their doors, sharing their stories, and investing in young people.”

Being able to help provide that same opportunity for today’s students is one of the most rewarding parts of serving on the CEO Board.

🎯 His Advice to CEO Students
“Do one thing each day that takes you just a little bit out of your comfort zone.”

Joel reminds students that their dreams are not out of reach — but achieving them takes hard work, dedication, strong relationships, and sometimes a little bit of luck.

Most importantly, he believes you control more of that equation than you may realize.

⛳️ Fun Fact About Joel
Joel loves golf and considers himself a lifelong student of the game.

To him, golf is a lot like life — it rewards patience, punishes shortcuts, and has a way of humbling you just when you think you’ve figured it all out.

We’re grateful to have Joel sharing his experience, perspective, and passion for mentorship with the Granite City CEO program and our students.

Be sure to stop by Meme’s Cafe and say hello! ☕️❤️
